A carrier may treat it as a regular pet. That means a carrier under the seat, a pet fee and the airline size limits, the same as any other traveling pet.

There is one more thing that did not change in 2020 and has never been true. A Support Animal does not have public access. It cannot enter stores, restaurants and other public places by right. Air travel. The 2020 Department of Transportation final rule, in force since early 2021, ended the cabin guarantee for a Support Animal. Airlines may now treat it as a pet. Almost everything else about a Support Animal stayed the same.

Not by right. Since the rule took effect in early 2021, airlines are not required to allow a Support Animal in the cabin. It travels under each airline pet policy, which usually means a carrier under the seat and a pet fee. A trained Service Dog is the one that still flies in the cabin.

No. The path is the same. A Licensed Clinical Doctor reviews your situation and, if a disability-related need is present, documents it in an honest letter you can give a landlord. There is still no national registry, and no vest or card is required.
