A trained dog usually curls up and rides quietly through the whole flight. Keep the leash short and in your hand. Crew may ask two things to confirm a Service Dog. Whether the dog is needed for a disability, and what task it is trained to do. They cannot ask about your diagnosis and cannot demand a demonstration. The standard the rule sets is behavior. No growling, no lunging, no nonstop barking and nothing on the cabin floor. A trained dog clears that bar without effort.

On a connection, your DOT form already covers the next leg with the same airline, so you do not refile. Walk straight to the relief area, give your dog water and a short break, then head to the new gate. On arrival at your final stop, the relief area is your first stop too, before baggage claim.
